Job Opportunity at ITNGreaterLA

Job Opportunity at ITNGreaterLA

The Coordinator of Operations and Administration position at
ITNGreaterLA offers the opportunity to make an impact at a small but
growing West Los Angeles area alternative transportation organization.
This nonprofit for seniors and the visually impaired is part of a
larger national organization, allowing opportunities for career
growth. The candidate will be hired part-time (25+ hours per week) as
an independent contractor, though this is set to change when the
position becomes full time in December of 2008. The position is ideal
for anyone interested in developing a solid career in non-profit
management or someone with non-profit and community organizing
experience. You will interact with all areas of our organization;
there will be no such thing as a "typical day." General duties include
answering the phones, accounting for daily manifests, data entry,
billing, scheduling and assigning rides to drivers as well as
providing rides when necessary. The position will also assist in
recruitment and retention of volunteers, member communications, and
general development tasks.
To be a good fit you need proven experience managing multiple
priorities in an occasionally stressful environment. Be able to
communicate clearly with the general public, members, volunteers, paid
drivers and office personnel. Experience working with older adults is
a plus and great customer service is key. You must be familiar with
computers and be able to read detailed maps quickly and accurately. A
valid driver's license and three years of driving experience with no
unexplained moving violations is a must.
Salary: $18-$20/hour.

THE SANTA MONICA COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
The Commission on the Status of Women (COSW), established in 1981, is charged with enhancing the status of women in our community. The Commission promotes this goal through investigation of, advocacy for, and policy development regarding issues relevant to women and girls, and by creating leadership and career advancement opportunities for women and girls in our community. Currently, there are two vacancies and the COSW is seeking persons interested in serving on the Commission. Candidates must be residents of the City of Santa Monica and must be committed to improving the status of women through advocacy, education, and related efforts. Meetings are held every second Wednesday at 7PM, and the public is invited to participate.
With a total of nine members and one youth intern, the COSW makes regular recommendations to the Santa Monica City Council and staff on programs and policies affecting women and girls. Commissioners are currently creating a strategic plan that will prioritize key goals, objectives and tasks aimed at improving the opportunities for women and girls in Santa Monica. Each year, the Commission presents an Outstanding Woman Leader (OWL) award to a woman who has demonstrated exceptional personal and/or professional dedication to improving the lives of women and girls in Santa Monica. Other accomplishments of the COSW include the 2004 Report on the Status of Women & Girls in Santa Monica and the 2004 Work/Life Survey. Both reports have provided key data for policymakers and the business community about education, employment and income, domestic violence and other key issues facing women and girls in Santa Monica.
Application forms and information are accepted for vacancies on an ongoing basis at Santa Monica City Hall, 1685 Main Street, Santa Monica in the City Clerk’s Office, Room 102.
