Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or related field from an accredited college or university required; Social Work Master’s preferred.
• Experience working in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in the classroom, as a school liaison, school based program required.
• Experience working with at-risk children required; ideally has experience working with the foster care system specifically.
• Ideal candidate will have an MSW Field Instructor Supervision Certificate and/or experience managing interns.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Excellent communication and writing skills required.
• Candidate must be flexible and multi-task oriented.

Children Uniting Nations is a non-profit organization which seeks to create and support quality academic and relationship based mentoring programs for foster youth in Los Angeles County. These services are provided on site at local LAUSD schools as well as in conjunction with community residential treatment facilities. The Community Field Liaison will work in conjunction with the academic mentoring team under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Key components of the program position include but are not limited to:

• Educational Enrichment Activities
• Mentor Recruitment and Support
• Mentor/Mentee Match Case Management
• Outreach and Workshops for Caregivers, Teachers, and School Staff

Specific responsibilities are as follows:

1. Coordinate on-site and off-site activities with Academic Mentoring Program Manager and LAUSD School Team
2. Coordinate and oversee Saturday School mentoring program
3. Work with mentors, teachers and school staff, and caregivers: orient and train, maintain ongoing communication, and complete evaluation surveys
4. Collect and compile program student data and surveys
5. Connect to community resources for foster youth services and to recruit mentors
6. Other duties as needed

SSG Research Analyst Opening

 Summary
Special Service for Groups (SSG) is a multi-service nonprofit agency currently operating over 25 programs in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Under its Research and Evaluation Unit, SSG is contracted to provide training and technical assistance to community-based organizations in community-based action research and/or program evaluation. Under the direction of the R&E Unit Director, the Research Analyst is responsible for conducting trainings and providing technical assistance to community-based organizations to increase their capacity for program evaluation and organizational development. The Research Analyst is involved in the development of research publications on policy issues pertinent to SSG programs. In addition, the Research Analyst may be assigned to work with SSG’s Program Development Team to support the development of funding proposals for SSG programs. The scope of activities and research topics will be determined by agency needs as well as the Research Analyst’s interests.

 Essential Functions
 Provide training and technical assistance on program design and evaluation to community-based organizations and SSG programs, including the coordination of peer-learning activities and assessment of technical assistance needs. Assist R&E Unit Director in conducting community workshops on topics including conducting community needs assessments, developing surveys and focus groups, identifying evidence-based practices, and using GIS maps for program development and policy advocacy purposes
 Conduct program evaluation for SSG programs and community partners, including design of evaluation instruments and/or databases, data analysis and interpretation, and the writing and dissemination of reports
 Participate in SSG’s Development Team, including supporting the development of programs and funding proposals for SSG programs
 Compile existing data and conduct literature reviews, utilizing online, academic, library, Census and community resources
 Perform data requests for SSG agencies and its community partners

 Secondary Functions
 Provide project information, program data, and reports and recommendations to R&E Director and SSG’s Program Development Team
 Maintain relationships and network with other service providers and organizations that serve the targeted communities of SSG programs
 Other duties as assigned
 Ability to speak and write in Spanish fluently strongly preferred
 Familiarity with multiple communities in Los Angeles strongly preferred

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration or related field
2 years experience conducting program evaluation in community settings
Strong research skills, especially in methodology that engages the community, including asset mapping, photovoice, focus groups or key informant interviews
Strong quantitative analysis and data management skills, including ability to mine existing relevant data and draw conclusion from its analysis (e.g. familiarity with MS Excel, MS Access, or SPSS, etc.)
Good writing and editing skills essential
Demonstrated ability to work with staff and community members from diverse racial, sexual, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and coordinate work with team members
Ability to respond to and follow up with community partners in a timely manner
Ability to facilitate group discussions to draw out knowledge, resolve conflicts, and build consensus
Computer skills in use of Internet, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and statistical software
Verification of Employment and Background Check
Possess a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
A minimum of 2-year commitment

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
This position takes place primarily in the SSG/Research and Evaluation office and occasionally in partner organizations across Los Angeles County.

Physical Requirements
The position requires primarily sitting and working at a computer workstation, including reading and typing. This position requires occasional driving.

Mental Requirements
The position requires the ability to process and analyze information from multiple sources and to articulate the significance of that information. This position also requires the ability to work independently and prioritize in order to meet deadlines.

Development
1. Assists CEO in the development and implementation of agency fund development strategy
2. Develops annual fundraising plan
3. Executes ESC’s corporate and foundation grants program: prospect research, all proposal writing, grant submission, stewardship, and reporting activities
4. Supports, participates in, and helps strategize donor cultivation efforts
5. Manages activities of Board Development Committee and supports Board and Consultant solicitation activities
6. Accurately records, maintains, and manages all fundraising data in hard and electronic files
7. Helps develop fundraising program to include the following or similar future activities:
a. Manage and grow ESC’s individual giving annual campaign
b. Create and market funding opportunities for prospective donors; build and nurture relationships with stakeholder groups; oversee donor communication and recognition
c. Develop planned giving program
8. Other duties as assigned

1. Develops with CEO and executes the overall communications strategy
2. Produces (including content development, copy editing, design, and vendor relations as applicable) the following publications:

d. Annual Report
e. Program recruitment brochures (minimum three annually) and other marketing materials
3. Develops and disseminates notices, invitations, and other communications to Consultants
4. Maintains and updates ESC website, including regular content development
5. Manages agency contact database
6. Other duties as assigned

Requirements
 Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree and/or formal grantsmanship training a plus
 Minimum of five years related experience
 Significant track record in foundation grant writing, prospect research, and stewardship
 Excellent writing and organizational skills
 Fluency with Microsoft Office suite and database program(s)
 High professional standards, attention to detail, and commitment to the nonprofit sector

IUC Director Posting

Dept. of Social Welfare, IUC (Inter-University Consortium) Director

The Inter-University Consortium (IUC) is comprised of the graduate programs of social work at 6 southern California universities and collaborates with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The mission of the IUC is to improve DCFS's ability to provide better services to families through training and academic programs that enhance the skills of over 7000 DCFS professional staff, and to increase the number of professionally trained social workers employed by DCFS.

The IUC Director coordinates and represents the efforts of the consortium with DCFS and other related organizations and represents the IUC in local and national forums in order to advance the delivery of state-of-the-art training to public child welfare workers across the county. In addition the IUC Director manages the IUC Training Evaluation Program and provides administrative leadership in the development and continual improvement of IUC computer systems, information management and web-site.
