POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:

Grant Writer: Will join Community Coalition’s Development
Department, which is responsible for raising revenue to support the
organization’s programs and operations. Main responsibilities will
be to craft and submit funding proposals; identify, research and
track potential funding opportunities from private foundations,
corporations and public agencies; and assist in the creation and
submission of narrative and financial reports required for the
maintenance of existing grant contracts.

Community Organizer: Seeking a community organizer to foster
activism in targeted South Los Angeles neighborhoods and working to
increase the participation of new and occasional voters from South
Los Angeles in elections. Main responsibilities include contacting
and mobilizing community residents to get involved in the
organization’s direct action campaigns, civic engagement efforts and
other volunteer opportunities.

Lead Organizer: Seeking a community organizer with at least four
years experience to supervise and lead a team of organizers and
outreach workers in neighborhood-level efforts to improve quality of
life. Main responsibilities include overseeing neighborhood direct
action campaigns, ensuring successful regular canvassing and
mobilization efforts, and managing grants and grant deliverables
related to project areas.

Mapper/Database Technician: Seeking a tech savvy individual with
experience in building and managing large databases to improve and
maintain Community Coalition’s database of members, supporters and
donors. Main responsibilities include ensuring database maintenance
and quality control, producing maps to aid in canvassing efforts, and
regular analysis of canvassing results and data.

Communications Associate: Seeking a creative and energetic
individual that will help develop and manage mass communication
strategies for the Coalition’s direct action campaigns including
social media, press strategy, website management, and on-line
communications. Interested individuals should feel compelled by
social justice work and gain enormous satisfaction from working on
campaigns that secure social and economic opportunities for
communities.

Youth Academic and Wellness Coordinator: Seeking an
experienced program coordinator who will promote a college-going
culture and help address youths' immediate needs and connect them to
social services. This position is responsible for implementing
academic and wellness service programs to ensure the individual and
collective success of 50-60 high school students. The coordinator
will also work with the staff to ensure that the emotional, social
and physical well being of youth members are met.

Position Summary: This position Provides support to the participants of the Social Services Department including but not limited to the MAP and Family Housing. Emergency transition, groups, and program enhancement.  

Position Functions:
1.     Be an active and positive representative of Social Services department at all times.
  1. Be a leaders in problem solving, staff and program development with the guidance of the directors.  
  2. MAP and Women’s program, as assigned:
o   Assure that the population of the Programs is consistent with that of the Program’s missions and stated goals they are designed to serve.
o   In consultation with the Director and Deputy Director, and Social Services team, and program staff, revise the Programs goals as justified by research and program experience to better meet the needs of the skid row client population.
o   Assume case management responsibilities for men and women as assigned.
o   Assist with the recruitment of participants in Social Services Programs.
o   Assess and evaluate applicants for admission to Social Service Programs.  
o   Assure that all Program participants are assigned to – and attend - at least weekly case management sessions and appropriate group meetings at least bi-weekly.
o   Ensure that all assigned chores are completed as scheduled. 
o   Ensure that all clients (in the Men’s Program) are employed and saving in accordance with their Program Plans. Also, unless otherwise designed in the Program Plan, ensure that all men clients are enrolled in and attend an appropriate skills enhancement program.
o   Ensure that clients within the Women’s Program are seeking appropriate employment or schooling
o   Assure that all case recording is current and is completed and stored in accordance with Program standards.
o   Assure that clients unable or unwilling to follow their Program Plans are referred to more appropriate programs within the Program' guidelines of tolerance for non-compliance.
o   In concert with the Director, Deputy Director and other Social Service staff assume responsibility for regularly attending assigned community meetings.   Meetings will be assigned based on the department's needs.
4.     Assistance with and coordination of prioritization project with the Program Manager.
5.     On-duty service to drop-in clients including activities in the women’s drop-in center, as needed or assigned.
6.     Develop, oversee, and attend the weekly social work forums for Skid Row Interns
7.     Participation in weekly clinical supervision and staffing
8.     Community outreach and collaboration with other social service agencies.
9.     Program and community partnership development as available and assigned.
10.  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work or a related degree; prefer experience with homeless adults, mental illness, or other related fields. Bilingual Spanish a plus
Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires ability to sit at computer for long periods of time. Job position requires significant time sitting, some standing and some travel time between offices. Varied shifts including evening and weekend may be required.

SENIOR CASE MANAGER 
PURPOSE OF POSITION 
Under the direction of the Social Services Director, the Sr. Case Manager provides intensive case management and crisis intervention to survivors of human trafficking and modern day slavery. The Sr. Case Manager must excel at client-centered advocacy, managing competing priorities, and facilitating access to services for clients. This highly responsible position contributes to social services policy formation and long-range program planning, and assists in developing and maintaining relationships with community partners who will accept referrals of CAST clients for services. This position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of a human rights, strengths-based approach in serving clients. Applicants should have awareness of key social work values, including client empowerment, professional boundaries, and self care. Also requires advanced project management expertise, independent decision making ability, and excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Involves travel throughout Los Angeles County developing partners and providing services to trafficking survivors in the Los Angeles region. Full-time, exempt position. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 
Case Management: Manage and perform ongoing assessments and service planning with clients. Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling. Coordinate, drive and accompany clients to health, mental health, legal, employment, education, criminal/civil case, and DPSS appointments. Assess and distribute emergency funds and resources to clients. Manage case files and detailed progress notes. Participate in initial screening and assessment of new referrals. Provide oncall support for shelter program and emergency hotline. 
Client Advocacy: Ensure that client rights and needs are protected at the local service delivery level. Identify barriers to services and advocate for higher quality of services with outside service organizations. Advocate for culturally and linguistically appropriate services for clients. 
MSW intern supervision: Manage CAST’s graduate and undergraduate social work internship program and serves as a field instructor to MSW and BSW students completing their field practicum at the agency. Recruit, screen, evaluate and supervise interns. Manage relationships with partner universities. Complete necessary courses mandated by partner universities, and train interns on CAST policies and procedures. 
Resource Management: Manage funds for client services. Monitor resource needs, assure ongoing access to resources by setting monthly allocations for limited resources “An organization committed to investing in human resilience” 

and accessing more resources as needed. Monitor and allocate grant funds available for client services. 
Model Development: Assist in identifying and developing new tools to be used in the planning and implementation of case management services. Provide input to the development of new protocols related to direct client services to be used by the Social Services Program. 
Additional Duties: Work closely with the Social Services Team in strategic development and meeting the goals and objectives of the program. Work with the Training and Advocacy Team to develop and deliver technical assistance and training to community and faith-based organizations, government, and law enforcement officials, and others. Responsible for answering 24 hour hotline during designated shifts. Other duties as identified and assigned. 
REQUIREMENTS 
1. 3 years post-MSW required to supervise MSW interns. 
2. Bilingual (Spanish required). Applicants must be bilingual at minimum. 
3. Demonstrated experience in case management (minimum 3 years) and/or providing direct services to clients, preferably in a community-based organization. 
4. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Strong assessment skills to determine client needs. 
5. Knowledge of issues related to providing services to immigrants, survivors of human trafficking, human rights and violence against women, including knowledge of the service delivery system in Los Angeles and the regulations governing public and private benefits as well as Federal benefits available to trafficking survivors. Knowledge of multidisciplinary and multicultural approaches. 
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to deliver oral presentations to diverse professionals and audiences. 
7. Must be organized, flexible, and multi-task oriented. Able to identify and respond to shifting priorities. A self-starter that can work within a team environment and handle a variety of tasks with urgent deadlines. Must be detail oriented. 
8. Ability to maintain cooperative and professional demeanor with CAST staff, board, volunteers, vendors, consultants, allied professionals, and members of the public. Enjoyment in interacting with people and creating an accessible environment. Capacity to work in a fast-paced program and manage multi-faceted services. 
9. Availability to travel extensively throughout the Los Angeles region, with some statewide and national presentations involving overnights and weekends. Have a car, insurance and a valid driver’s license.

(One opening at Oak Knoll & one at El Monte office!!)

Summary:

Therapist will work with families and children who are at high risk of abuse or neglect, including children who are receiving services from DCFS
or who have been referred by legal, medical or social service agencies.  Therapist will cover for Parent Ed groups in the evening as needed.

Please note: The position may transition to DMH in 2013/2014 Fiscal Year.

Qualifications:
