Red Cross Disaster Mental Health
Greetings all,
This is a great time to contact your local Red Cross office if you reside in the SCA area to see if your Red Cross Chapter needs assistance with their response to the fires. If you are not a Red Cross volunteer just yet, you can go to http://www.redcross.org/ and type in your zip code in the box at the top.
If you are licensed, you can inquire about becoming a DMH (Disaster Mental Health) volunteer, but must take the one day course prior to participating in this capacity. SCA Chapters may need assistance from social workers with the hotlines or other areas of service. If not, this is a great opportunity to sign up to become a Red Cross volunteer so you can be processed and ready to assist at future disasters.
All the Best,
Your NASWCA/ARC Co-chairs, Vicky Powell, LCSW, MPA and Joni Diamond, LCSW
