Bilingual Therapist – Adult and Children’s Outpatient Program

APCTC is a private, non-profit, community based mental health clinic with close to 30 years of service to the Asian Pacific Islander community in Los Angeles County.  APCTC is a county-contracted agency under the auspices of Special Service for Groups. 

APCTC has immediate, full time positions available for a bilingual therapist at a few of our Los Angeles county locations – Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley and Cerritos offices.  The therapist will be working primarily with children and adolescents who have serious emotional and behavior problems and their families.  Some adult cases with severe mental disorders will be assigned as well.

Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Program Manager and clinical supervisor, the PSW I/MFTI has primary clinical responsibilities in providing individual, group and family counseling, intake assessment, crisis intervention and outreach and referral services at both our clinic and school-sites (in LAUSD), occasional in-home assessments and services and close collaboration with relevant parties, such as school staff, DCFS workers, Probation officers, Regional Center workers, etc. 

Requirements: the candidate must have a strong interest and comfort level in working with families/parents, are familiar with DSM-IV and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.  Candidate must have a valid registration with BBS and have a valid California driver license and reliable transportation.  Proficiency in Spanish, Korean, Khmer, Vietnamese or Tagalog highly preferred.  All other candidates ok to apply.  Knowledge of LAC-DMH paperwork is a plus.

Program Officer – Health Care

The California Community Foundation (CCF) is a nonprofit grantmaking foundation that administers more than 1,600 individual charitable funds to meet existing and emerging needs in the Greater Los Angeles area. The Position
Reporting to the senior vice president, programs, the program officer for health care enables CCF to invest its resources (i.e., competitive grants and program-related investments) in an accessible, fair, and thoughtful manner. The position requires leadership skills and significant experience in strategy development, program design and management; nonprofit capacity building; donor relations; and public policy analysis.   Previous work experience related to health care in Los Angeles is essential.

Major Responsibilities:
·         Strategy Development, Program Design and Management: Designs, develops and implements the overall portfolio strategy, goals, grantmaking and other activities in the health care area of the foundation.  Reviews and revises portfolio goals, strategies, outcomes and indicators periodically, and oversees the evaluation of selected grants and grant clusters.  Maintains depth and expertise in health care, including major policy reform efforts and initiatives that impact this issue in Los Angeles and California. 
·         Portfolio Management: Ensures that CCF’s grants and program-related investment (PRI) funds are invested in grantees and communities to achieve common outcomes and maximum impact.  Reviews, analyzes and provides recommendations on grant proposals. Conducts due diligence including analysis of financial information, site visits and interviews with other funders and relevant agencies. Works with CCF’s PRI intermediaries to ensure disbursement of PRI funds. Monitors grant investments, produces grant agreements, reviews progress reports and payment requests, and maintains ongoing communications with grantees.  Works with grantees to strengthen their organizational capacity to adapt to changes in the nonprofit environment, including their ability to report results by using effective outcome measures.  Prepares and presents written and oral analyses of grant requests, drafts issues briefs and prepares quarterly and year-end portfolio reports for CCF staff, Board of Directors, donors, and/or committee members.
·         Research and Special Projects: Conducts research and analyzes trends on health issues or concerns of importance to CCF through written materials, interviews, community meetings, computer networks, or other useful vehicles.  Presents findings in written and/oral formats. Designs, manages and facilitates special projects for CCF, ensuring a thoughtful and reasonable process, timely preparation and coordination of key activities and materials for review panels, advisory committees, and CCF’s Board of Directors.

·         Community Relations and Outreach: Represents CCF on relevant committees, commissions, task forces and boards.  Assumes leadership roles in professional networks and collaborations related to CCF’s priority issues and philanthropic activities. With the Program Associates, works directly with grantseekers to provide clarification of CCF priorities, direction regarding application procedures, and feedback on proposals.
·         Donor Relations: Leads project working teams and collaborates with donor relations and communications staff to strategize on messaging, fund development and impact analysis for discretionary funds. Prepares information for donors and/or meets with donors to refine their giving preferences. May also staff one-time, periodic or ongoing grantmaking processes associated with donor-advised funds and supporting organizations.
·         Resource Development: Responsible for annual and multiyear fundraising efforts that supplement Field of Interest and Unrestricted grantmaking budgets in a particular priority funding area of CCF. Prepares a written plan to guide immediate and long-term resource development efforts that include an audit of current and potential resources and establishing annual fundraising benchmarks.
·         Personnel Supervision, Project Management and Delegation: In collaboration with department supervisors, coordinates and delegates projects to and supervises the work and performance of other officers, Program Associates and Program Assistants to manage and accomplish the work of the department in an efficient and effectively planned manner.  Ensures that foundation databases are accurate, updated in a timely manner and are effectively utilized.  Manages workload to ensure sufficient time is allotted to knowledge acquisition and to achieve mastery of department processes and technology.
·         General: As appropriate, assists other departments and works as a member of interdepartmental teams to ensure the effective and efficient operations of CCF.  At all times, demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers.  Assumes other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.

·         Experience: Eight years of related grantmaking and/or program design and management experience required with a minimum of five years working in the nonprofit, public and/or philanthropic sector in the area of health. Experience in managing consultants and project working teams to achieve results is essential.
·         Education:  A Master’s level degree in public health or a related field.
·         Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated analytical capabilities and substantive knowledge of best practices in fields of interest to the Foundation, familiarity with the public policy and legislative process, public and private funding streams related to health care, and a working understanding of outcome measures and evaluation methodologies aimed at assessing program effectiveness.
·         Community Knowledge:  Knowledge of the Los Angeles County nonprofit community, familiarity with the geography and diverse neighborhoods throughout the region, and experience in working effectively with diverse and broad-based community constituencies.
·         Convening and Facilitation Skills:  Able to facilitate meetings and group processes for the purposes of fact-finding, decision-making, peer learning and problem solving.
·         Fundraising Skills: Working knowledge of raising funds from individual donors, foundations and/or the public sector.
·         Communications Skills: Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clear, concise analyses and narratives. Ability to prepare and give presentations, and to comfortably interact with diverse audiences including donors, Board members, civic leaders and nonprofit and community groups.
·         Technology Skills: Internet competency and strong computer proficiency, including mastery of the Microsoft Office software suite.  Prior familiarity with database programs is essential. 
·         Project Management Skills:  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  Ability to lead and manage projects and associated staff, prioritize work effectively and adjust to multiple demands. 
·         Team Work and General Skills: Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, participate as an effective and engaged team member and follow tasks through to completion.

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing individual, family, and group mental health services to clients in the Full Service Partnership (FSP).
Major Responsibilities
  1. Provide individual, family and group therapy to assigned caseload.
  2. Serve as care coordinator for clients as assigned. Responsibilities include coordination of all services with other providers and completion of all coordinated care documentation.
  3. Provide “whatever it takes” services as defined by treatment model and treatment team to consumers including providing services where the consumer lives, assisting with housing, benefits, employment, education, transportation.
  4. Assist client in developing independent living skills to promote independence and self-sufficiency
  5. Co-facilitate and lead psycho-social rehabilitation groups.
  6. Provide case management services as needed.         
  7. Develop outpatient mental health services that meet the needs of the clients.
  8. Provide outreach services to individuals within this community.
  9. Participate in milieu activities of FSP.
  10. Work as part of treatment team in collaboration with the psychiatrist, therapists, case manager and other team members.
  11. Assist in crisis and symptom management within FSP programs.
  12. Provide a minimum of 65% field based services.
  13. Work as an active FSP team member and closely collaborate with team members.

  15. Develop effective individualized treatment plans and monitor consumer progress.
  16. Develop services to meet the needs of consumers.
  17. Provide 24 hour, 7 days per week after hours coverage when assigned.

  19. Assist in ongoing maintenance of consumers’ charts and other related documentation.
  20. Complete all clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.  
  21. Comply with the agency’s policies and procedures.
  22. Arrange work schedule in accordance with the agency’s needs.
  23. Attend regular staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  24. Comply with the agency’s policies and procedures.
  25. Meet expected performance hours as assigned by supervisor.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
MA, MSW or Ph.D/Psy.D  from regionally accredited graduate program. Two years minimum clinical experience in delivering mental health services. Some experience working with persistently mentally ill adults and families preferred. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma preferred. Valid CA driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
