Manager, Advocacy and Government Relations
BREATHE California of Los Angeles County is seeking a Manager of Advocacy
and Government Relations to develop, coordinate, and manage its community
advocacy and legislative, quasi-governmental or institutional policy initiatives in
the greater Los Angeles Area.
Job responsibilities include legislative analysis, establishing and driving policy
and advocacy agendas, coordinating the Advocacy sub-committee, integrating
advocacy initiatives into program of work, and overseeing volunteers in the
implementation of advocacy and policy initiatives. Coordinating data analyses,
translating research and findings from governmental, community based, and
university sources to support and inform constituencies advocating and
educating for policy change is critical to the duties of the position.
Individual will attend meetings and hearings locally and statewide, represent
agency along with volunteers in a leadership capacity and must have a solid
grasp of environmental, tobacco, and lung health issues.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree,
Masters preferred, and three years of significantly increasing responsibility
coordinating advocacy and policy initiatives in the non-profit or public sector.
Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
and Outlook. Excellent computer and online advocacy skills. Experience mobilizing
organizations, institutions, coalitions, or association representatives is essential.
