Field Work Consultant: Health and Aging

POSITION:  Field Work Consultant, Academic Year (9 month), 100% time.

OVERVIEW: The Field Work Consultant will serve as liaison to Older Adult Service Agencies participating in the MSW Field Education Program at UCLAThe consultant will be expected to engage in outreach to students to stimulate interest in the Health and Aging Specializations and serve as the Departments representative to the Geriatric Social Work Education Consortium (GSWEC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in the recruitment, screening, development, and evaluation of prospective agency field practicum sites, field instructors, and preceptors.  Includes conducting introductory practicum site visits, processing practicum applications, contracts, field
instructor profiles, etc.
 Works and collaborates with the Director of Field Education and other Field Education
Faculty to plan and implement educational experiences and activities for the field education program.
 Facilitates and functions as field faculty in assigned field practicum seminar.
 Interprets school policies and requirements; monitors and evaluates students progress;
evaluates field instructors and agencys performance; mediates problems and/or disputes.
Consultant to specified agencies and field instructors, including implementation of student field education experiences as required.
Assists in the development of student orientations, field coursework, and field instructor trainings.
Contributes to relevant written materials as needed, e.g. field manual, learning agreements, school policies that impact the field education curriculum and support the
internships.
Monitoring and evaluating liability, malpractice, and risk management issues for students and agenciesProvide due process, input, and feedback for agencies, field instructors,
and students.
 Participates in county-wide planning committees and coordination efforts related to
MSW field education, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work
 Demonstrated success in agency based social work practice with older adults
 Supervisory experience of both staff and students in the role of field instructor
 Incumbent must have excellent communication skills written and oral
 Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
 Minimum five years experience
 Teaching/training experience/field instruction of social work students




SALARY Determined by experience and qualifications.
