Adoptions Counselor/ Case Manager


Skills:
Counseling clients who have experienced trauma (esp. child maltreatment); providing case management including linkage; providing services in-home; interacting appropriately w/ other professionals; networking to create referral/linkage sources; empowering clients; advocating for clients; assessing client needs & creating case/treatment plans; maintaining comprehensive client files & data; relating to individuals of diverse cultures, ethnicities, lifestyles, SES.

Job Description:
Provides case management and counseling to families referred by the Department of Children and Family Services to our Adoption Promotion & Support Services program. Families are in the process of adopting children from the foster care system. Duties include providing family, individual, and group counseling; assessing families' and individuals' needs; facilitating support groups; mentoring (if candidate possesses personal foster/adoption experience); providing comprehensive case management, including linkage; maintaining comprehensive records and data. Some services are provided in-home. Helps clinical supervisor monitor volunteer staff.

Comments:
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred. MFT/MSW Graduate Preferred (MFT/MSW Grad Student Acceptable IF ALSO Bilingual English/Spanish). Professional Experience w/ Adoption and/or Foster System Necessary. Personal Experience w/ Adoption and/or Foster System a Plus. Must Pass Criminal Clearance Background Check. Must Possess Insured Car & Valid CA Driver's License to Perform In-Home Services.
