Field Organizer
Los Angeles or San Francisco
AIUSA Field Organizers report to one of five Regional Directors, and are assigned territories within which they are responsible for organizing and coordinating the work of AIUSA members and activists, consistent with Amnesty International's approach to human rights work. FOs support local member groups within their territory with recruiting and engagement events, human rights education and activist training. We currently seek a Field Organizer for the Western Region to cover S. California and 4 - 5 SW states.
Taking direction from the leadership at AIUSA, the FO plays a critical role in the development and implementation of regional responses to new or emergency human rights crises. Working in collaboration with Campaign and External Affairs staff, s/he organizes fundraising, public awareness and campaign events, and serves as AIUSA's public representative for the territory. The FO also serves on internal campaign inter-departmental working groups, and is a key participant in the development and implementation of long-term regional campaign strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Four to six years of directly relevant experience is required, including working with volunteer groups. Teambuilding, organizing and excellent presentation skills are required. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator, who can work with volunteer activists and members, as well as other AIUSA staff toward our shared goals. S/he must be an excellent presenter who has or can develop media skills for interviews. Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and/ or other language skills desired.
