PROGRAM COORDINATOR
TRANSITIONAL LIVING CENTER

Venice Community Housing Corporation (VCHC) is a community based, nonprofit organization engaged in a variety of housing and community development programs. VCHC owns and manages 175 units of affordable housing including a 32-bed transitional housing facility for homeless women and their children. VCHC’s Transitional Living Center, called “Westminster-TLC,” located in Venice, is a transitional housing program which can accommodate up to eight homeless women and twenty-four children in shared apartment units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Program Coordinator for the Transitional Living Center reports to the Family & Community Services Director (FCSD). The Program Coordinator is responsible for case managing eight women-headed households transitioning out of homelessness into stable housing from intake and assessment through referral to support services and job training and/or educational opportunities. This includes interviewing all applicants, together with HOPE, the project partner. The Program Coordinator enforces all financial and programmatic program requirements. In addition, the Program Coordinator assists in developing and implementing on-site educational and life skills programs including but not limited to parenting classes, household management, budgeting, anger management and pre-employment skills training. The Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all case files, satisfying any contract reporting requirements, providing referrals to other programs, and serves as an advocate as needed, proactively strategizing and planning supportive social service programming. Other duties as assigned by the FCSD.

QUALIFICATIONS

The applicant should have a Masters Degree in Social Work with a focus on case management and an extensive knowledge of community resources and family dynamics; experience working with low-income families, homeless families, domestic violence victims, and single mothers; and excellent communication, time management, administrative and inter-personal skills. A valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to transport clients seeking housing and other services are required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) also preferred.
SALARY
Full-time position with some regular evening and occasional weekend hours. $42,000-45,000 per year, plus health and dental benefits.
